From 19 to 22 May 2025, SHER held a series of consultative meetings with five public universities to support the revision of their statutes. The meetings took place with following institutions: University ‘Isa Boletini’ in Mitrovica, University ‘Haxhi Zeka’ in Peja, University ‘Ukshin Hoti’ in Prizren, University ‘Fehmi Agani’ in Gjakova and University ‘Kadri Zeka’ in Gjilan
Each meeting began with welcoming remarks from the respective university Rectors and representatives of the SHER team. These sessions were followed by a comprehensive and tailored analysis led by Kristiina Tõnnisson, SHER international expert. Her input focused on reviewing the current statutes of each university, identifying their strengths, pinpointing areas for improvement, and offering targeted recommendations for clarity, functionality, and alignment with international standards.
The meetings gathered statute working group members, faculty representatives, and university leadership, fostering open and constructive discussions. Key themes across all consultations included enhancing transparency in decision-making, strengthening academic autonomy, and promoting good governance principles within university structures. Throughout the week, participants of all HEIs showed a high level of engagement and collaboration, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing institutional development. The Rectors expressed appreciation for SHER’s support, noting that the consultative process is a meaningful step toward modernizing university governance frameworks and aligning with European higher education practices.
SHER remains dedicated to supporting Kosovo’s public higher education institutions in building robust, inclusive, and future-ready systems.
