SHER supports University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj launching its Gender Equality Plan

10.12.2025

On 10 December 2025 on International Human Rights Day, the SHER programme was proud to support the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj (UASF) in officially launching its Gender Equality Plan (GEP) 2025–2028. This milestone reflects UASF’s growing commitment to nurturing a safe, inclusive, and equitable academic environment, and highlights SHER’s ongoing efforts to strengthen gender equality across Kosovo’s higher education sector.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Dr. Agron Bajraktari, Rector of UASF. He expressed appreciation for SHER’s continued support in refining the initial document, shaping the new version of the plan, and contributing to broader institutional development initiatives. Rector Bajraktari reaffirmed that UASF remains fully committed to ensuring equal opportunities, fair representation, and a secure, inclusive environment that supports the personal, academic, and professional growth of both students and staff. SHER’s Thematic Coordinator, Mr. Nehat Dervishi, highlighted the significance of presenting the GEP on International Human Rights Day and within the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. He emphasized SHER’s enthusiasm in collaborating with UASF and underscored the project’s dedication to advancing shared efforts that promote equality, prevent discrimination, and strengthen institutional capacities.

SHER expert Prof. Ardiana Gashi presented the main components of the GEP, including the strategic objectives, priority measures, and proposed institutional mechanisms for implementation and monitoring. Her presentation opened the floor for an engaging discussion, allowing participants to provide comments, raise questions, and offer suggestions for further strengthening the plan.

The Gender Equality Plan was developed with SHER’s assistance, drawing on institutional data and meaningful contributions from UASF representatives throughout several dedicated workshops. The process emphasized collaboration, evidence-based planning, and the alignment of university practices with international standards for gender equality.

SHER remains committed to supporting higher education institutions across Kosovo in embedding gender equality and fostering inclusive academic communities.
